The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is pleased to announce that the Young Entrepreneur Program (YEP) Second Annual “Business Concepts and Video Elevator Pitch Competition” will be held at this year’s YEP Business Fair & Competition on Thursday, April 15, 2010, between 8:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., in the Shasta College Theatre.  This is an opportunity for our “young people” to showcase their creativity and innovative ideas while entering to win up to $1,000 Business Start-Up Scholarship. Contestants must be 14 to 27 years of age and be legal residents of Shasta, Trinity, or Siskiyou Counties in California.

The competition is divided into three phases:

 

 

Phase I:  Get Started – Requirements & Qualifications. Register on www.sbdcsc.org, complete parent permission form (if under 18), and agree to the competition rules). Next, submit the completed Business Concept Questions.

 

 

Phase 2:  Video Elevator Pitch. Semifinalists invited to Phase 2 competition create 45 to 90-second video elevator presentation for uploading to YEP Business Concepts & Elevator Pitch Competition Group YouTube site. 

 

 

Phase 3:  Business Fair & Competition.  Finalists will be invited to “pitch” their ideas to a panel of judges during the Young Entrepreneur Program Business Fair & Competition. To participate in Phase 3, a finalist must attend the Small Business Development Center Youth Entrepreneurship Program Business Fair on April 15, and present an Elevator Pitch lasting no more than 5 minutes.
